Below are some pictures of the Saab 9-4x’s sister vehicle in concept form.
This is the Cadillac Provoq concept vehicle and GM are unveiling it at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. There’s lots of important things about this, like the fuel cell bit and the E-flex SUV bit etc etc. But at this very moment I don’t care about those.
The important bit for us is that these are quite likely the proportions that we can expect for the Saab 9-4x concept that will debut in a few days from now. The 9-4x and a Cadillac sibling were developed concurrently, but will have different emphases and (thank the Lord) different designs.
Images of the 9-4x are out there, but under embargo (and no, I don’t have any). From those who have seen them, the 9-4x is MUCH better looking than this.
Hallelujah.

looks like a saturn vue.
you look like a saturn vue.
Good looking car. The proportions are nice as well..
Looks ok to me, not great, but good.
It’s still a concept (and the images, still cgi’s, me thinks) so the production car will have smaller wheels and less flashy details.
There’s still a chance that the 9-4 will end up looking all right, which it must.
@mo:
You do have a point: it’s proportions seem to be very close to the ones of the Saturn Vue/Opel Antara/Chevrolet Captiva etc..
Those are Theta platform cars: do day relate in any way to this Provoq SUV and Saab’s cousin?
I doesn’t seem to be any information about the platform in the press release.
I wasn’t expecting them to share the platform with those cars… but could it be possible?
the rear lenses hang or jut off the car. cartoonish.
solar panel behind sunroof. good.
no room for a front license plate.
good enough for caddy; not good enough for saab.
Isn’t it supposed to be a theta-epsilon mix ? Which one donates what, don’t know. Obviously, the proportions have theta DNA.
(a guess: extended theta floorpan with epsilon 2 + xwd rear suspension ??)
On the first pic, cover the front of the car and it looks like a Volvo.
Well, in the interest of lifting everyone’s moods and spirits (I am mostly interested in Swade’s) let’s be all positive and hope that the 9-4 X version will see a good result that will put out all the doubts about GM’s ability to work in collaboration with Saab and use their know how to achieve a good result. At a glance this vehicle looks very promising so long as its Saabized adequately. Here is for hope !!!
Skål to that!
If the 9-4x is a good looking for a Saab as this is for a Caddy, I feel very optimistic – this is a very snappy SUV, if there were no 9-4x in the wings, I would even consider this!
Proportions are indeed close to Antara and his nephews.
9-4X should be more than just another variant. Good looking though.
Would be nice if they could stirr up emotions likewise when the Aero-X was presented …
Ther is a 9-4X picture, assumably photoshopped on this site:

Yes, seems to be a version of the Saturn Vue/Opel Antara/Chevrolet Captiva. A SAAB “made in” Korea and to be built in Mexico doesn’t sound too good. These cars haven’t got the best reviews from journos (sluggish diesel engine (2,0 L) and not as good as competition in general terms, let’s hope they get the SAAB right with the Epsilon add-ons and XWD – and, for all SAAB fan’s sake, let’s hope it does look completely different from them.
A decent start. This concept looks a little feminine to me — I think it’s the exagerated high beltline in the rear.
The Caddy will always have those creases, which I like.
I like it.
At least we know what the BRX will look like
Excellent job. It looks like a Cadillac. It looks very unique. I think this looks more Caddy than the Saab 9-4x looks Saab.
JC, agreed, that’s what i tried (rather badly) to say above (11). Maybe we’ll yet be pleased with the real thing as opposed to these cgi if Saab take any comments on board?
I must say I like the 9-4X much better.. The Caddy´s ok but looks more like a pimped out Chevrolet Captiva, Opel Antara and Saturn Vue.. I´m for one is glad that we don´t just get a Caddy with a Saab badge. The 9-4X stands out, the Caddy does not. The Saabs not as dramatic as I would have liked but it stil is a Saab and not something that just aswell could have been drawn in Korea or Japan. Sorry if you think I´m beeing to hard on other GM brands, but I dont want a replica of other brands.. Even though the 9-4X has a bit of Q7 gooing in some bits.
