Turbo X in my Inbox
I got a promotional e-mail from Saab USA today touting the spring 2008 release of the Saab Turbo X. As per usual, I find the prose sprinkled with playful aviation references and the like. Certainly not my cup of tea.
I guess the real news here is that if you’re one of the first 100 to order a Turbo X in the United States, you’ll get an additional session on XWD at the Aero Academy.
Get turbocharged about Saab all over again.
Coming spring 2008 and inspired by an iconic vehicle, the 900 Turbo, the all-new Saab Turbo X celebrates 30 years of groundbreaking Saab innovation. This high-performance 9-3 model features a 280hp, 2.8 V6 Turbo engine that’ll fly from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds. Even more impressive, however, is the Turbo X’s cross-wheel-drive system. Unlike the traditional all-wheel drive system, this state of the art active on demand cross-wheel-drive system optimizes the handling of the Turbo X by instantly transferring torque to the rear axle during certain driving conditions, giving the already fun-to-drive 9-3 an even sportier feel.
Talk about driving elation.
And when it comes to design, the sleek Turbo X soars above the rest. Outfitted in all black with leather-appointed seating to match, this 9-3 sports exclusive special-edition rims and is available in either the Sport Sedan or SportCombi model.
Want to spring ahead and take a peek at the all-new Turbo X? Now you can – one will be available to view at the New England Auto Show in Boston starting November 28. And through our special pre-sale offer, you can get your limited edition Turbo-X now. Be one of the first 100 people to pre-order and you will also receive a complimentary XWD session at our renowned Aero Academy Driving School. See your dealer for details.
Enjoy your flight,

Enjoy your flight…hmm….
You know they say the same thing when you take “a flight” on the London Eye…
On this subject, there’s a conversation over at FastLane Blog that you might wish to join in on.

Gunnar, Thanks for the tip. I read the comments there and had to respond to one. Someone pointed to the $40,800 base price of the BMW 335xi and called it better appointed. I had to mention to him that the BMW had leatherette (vinyl) seats, and heated seats and folding rear seats were extra. Hardly better appointed.
Then I found this about BMW cupholders at Autonet Canada. People can stop complaining about Saab’s cupholders. BMW’s are worse!
From article: “And then there are the cupholders. Yes, there are two up front, but by their very design you get the idea that BMW engineers are expressing their disapproval of people who drink coffee and drive … Both cupholders pop out of the dash on the passenger side. But they’re situated so that if they slop over, the passenger’s drink will get him on the right knee; the driver’s on his left knee. And make no mistake, they WILL slop over thanks to the firm suspension system.”
BMW should lighten up, even Lotus has a cupholder option now :p
