There’s some more photos coming later, but these are the ones of the cars…..

My thanks to Richo for once again going above and beyond the call, and taking some brilliant shots of the Turbo X and the other Saabs at the AIMS.

His notes and thoughts from the day are here.

Click to enlarge any of these. Enjoy.

Well done Richo, some brilliant pictures there. :-)

Nice set of pictures. Thank you!

I wonder if the photo of Turbo X with Hummer logo is been taken by purpose ;) Turbo X looks just brilliant. Except the seats.. What has happened to them anyway? They look like they´re used like in +100 000km car. Our 9-3 with 30 000km on the clock seats are still like new. No visible damages, wrinkles or the like. Is that really a premium quality leather?

The convertible looks also very good. The new rear is really growing on me. I like especially new rear lights. They look more “Saab” than the previous ones.

I assume that c900 wasn´t there this time? At least it´s not visible on any of those pics.

I believe that Turbo X will be quite highly sought after model in few years. Excellent car.

I think it is just the lighting that makes the seats look creased and worn? At any rate the carbon fibre trim used looks great.

I am pleasantly surprised by the two tone seats in the aero convertible. On the SAAB website you couldn’t get a picture that gave you a good view. Richo’s photo has clarified the situation, I reckon they look pretty sharp.

I am a big fan of the new shape in white … one of those with the new Inca wheels and I’d be a very happy SAABer, indeed!

Why the heck isn’t white available in the US? I wonder if the AWD Aero models are available in white. I’m thinking no :(

      White does look hot!

Snow silver should give a metallic white look mind. I’m looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

I’ve seen a snow silver SS in the flesh, but couldn’t get a good enough look at it as I was on the motorway at the time.

The 17th can’t come soon enough :) Can’t wait to pick up the new ride!

Kaz, I´m sorry but I may have missed details or just simply forget. So could you please go on details and tell something about your soon-to-be-there Saab?

White is available in the US - Polar White or the new Snow Silver, although I went to a dealer to check out snow silver and it’s definitely NOT white-looking at all.

It’s light silver. No white what-so-ever.

    • Ubermich said:

Indeed, white IS available in the US. We just got our shipment last night!

    • Inwo said:

According to the US Saab website the Aero model is not available in white.

    • joemama said:

YEs, correct - Aero is not available in white.

Ubermich - where are you in the US? please post some pics of the 2.0T in white, if it’s not too much trouble.

Aero available in white in the US . According to my local dealer his website is correct - he has one in stock. Go to Saab 9-3 inventory and check page 4.

    • denvernewbie said:

that’s a 2008(!) Aero available in white in the US

    • Inwo said:

If you could have your dealer call my dealer and explain to him how to order one I’d be very happy but according to dealerworld (how they order the cars) my dealer says it’s not possible…

    • Inwo said:

Well, unless he’s lying to me which I suppose is entirely possible :P

    • denvernewbie said:

      Inwo,
Guess now you have a way to justify a trip to Colorado to pick it up here - in God’s country! ;-)
(you can honestly tell your wife you have no choice….)

    • denvernewbie said:

talk to ‘Barry’…tell him I sent you!
actually, Barry said it’s still off-site getting prepped, and he hasn’t seen it himself, but that the inhouse inventory says it’s Arctic White…but did you see the MSRP? $49,000+! (maybe it’s the Turbo X in white disguise???)

    • TimJ said:

denver - at that price you have to assume the Arctic White Aero is a convertible? (that’s the only 9-3 that lists white as an option for Aero trim in the US)

    • denvernewbie said:

      TimJ - you’re a genius! :-)
      Inwo - problem solved!
      Good call, Tim!
I ran the VIN listed on the web through Swade’s handy-dandy Vin Decoder website, and HERE IT IS:

      VIN: YS3FH71U886000553
      Manufacturer: Saab Automobile AB
Product line: SAAB 9-3 Sport Sedan
      Body type: 2-door Convertible (CV)
      Gear box: VIN incorrect!
      Engine type: B234E - 2.3L turbo LPT, 170 hp
      Model year: 2008
      Assembly plant: Graz, Austria
      Serial number: 000553
      Control symbol: Passed
      SRS: 9-3 Aero

do you guys think the engine info looks right? It’s an Aero, but is listed as 2.3 liter and 170 HP? Sounds pretty light on the HP…
Inwo - guess you’ll have to come up with another excuse to visit the Colorado Rockies (btw - GO ROCKIES!) :-)
