Come drive with me…
This is a video I shot whilst in Trollhattan for the Saab Festival. It’s a short drive from the hotel I was staying at (The Swania - great place) to the Saab Museum.
Lots of Saabs on the way and especially in the carpark. And note the Toppola at the end!
Seeing this one brought back a whole bunch of good memories.
I put the music with it as the wind noise on the video camera was terrible. Please be kind in your commentary, as someone you all know is playing bass on that one (you can comment on the odd timing on one of the drum fills in the first verse, though).

It was like being back there again. Good memories indeed!
i agree terry, brilliant time, Swade what day was it filmed, kepted looking out for me.
And was that Helga on her bike?
…bit of trivia…watched the first episode of “Bionic Woman” last night and what was the central character driving? A late 1980s SAAB…
Fantastic Video, so many memories.
I’m pretty sure it was taken on Thursday.
Pretty sure that was Helga.
Of course it was Helga. Everyone in a skirt was Helga! Well, that’s what Phil kept telling me, at least….
good video. it gives me sensory overload.
i would have crashed, rubbernecking at all the saabs.
That was such a good video, do you have more? It is great to think it was like that all the time. re-living it all over again
Swade, looks like you were dying to get on the “right” side of the road.
What a great video. I can only imagine how you felt when you were there.
Inspiring video - makes me want to SCREAM about the possible impending elimination of the European Deliver Program!
Swade, I thought you drove quite well on the “wrong” side of the road. I don’t know how I would cope if driving in Austalia or England!
You had sort of that Michael Jordan thing going on in the beginning, concentrating so hard your tongue was hanging out. I know you had “keep right, keep right, keep right…” running through your head. Whatever you do, never listen to driving technique suggestions from whomever is in the passenger seat.
You know, best as I can tell a yellow light in Sweden means the same thing as in Australia. I was wondering if I was watching Renezvous for a moment there!
Did you remember to do the “Saab wave” thing every time you passed another Saab? If so, you probably needed a Swedish message when you were done with the four minute drive. Those streets had so many stop lights and pedestrian crossings you probably would have made better time with a Saab Everywhere Bike.
That has got to be the only place I’ve ever seen where the rebel drives a BMW to be different! I seriously saw a 3-series in that parking lot at the end.
Do you know how many Toppolas were made? Is it a common thing to see them in Sweden or was that one only there because of the Saab Festival?
Nice video, but I have to say it was pretty embarrassing when you were lapped by the jogger with the baby stroller!
Maybe I missed a joke, but why did you mention the Descendents? What music was that?
Toppola? I didn’t see it for that SWEET C900 ‘vert just before. Noice!
There were a few Toppolas there, Gripen. I’m sure I didn’t see them all, but I saw several.
Dan, I’d had a few days practice by that stage, so I was pretty comfortable with it. Didn’t take long, actually. Got used to it quicker than I thought and by that stage it was second nature.
Jeff, the music was by a band I used to play in. I’m playing bass on that one. I asked all you Descendants fans to take it easy in your comments (if there were to be any made) knowing that this was a fairly soft-ish song compared to what you folks are used to. It makes no sense now that it’s been explained, but it sort of did at the time I wrote it.
There’ll be several more quick videos in the coming days. And no, Robin, I still can’t find ‘that’ tape. Grrrrrr.
Always a pleasure to see Trollhättan
Very pleasant video Thanks !
Great video Swade, very well done.
did anyone count the saabs?
Nice vid,, i can feel the heat, and yes that was deffo helga.:-)
Phill, we will have to confirm it in 2009
I´m sad…
Swade, is it just me that can´t se the “come drive with me-video”?
Do I do anything wrong?
If so, could You mail it to me?
Kind regards
Beppe
I’m not sure what’s wrong with this one Beppe. I’ll check it out and re-post it.
Thanks a lot Swade, would be great. Love to watch the movie. (dreaming back to last summer)…
