Gotta love that car! First impression - it´s D. Wader´s vehicle, no doubt!

wow. i really like the SS straight-on rear shot. mmmmm. handsome car.

will look even better with some decent window tint.

      Bring it on.

      Absolutely loving those wheels.

    • Swade said:

They are sensational, aren’t they. I wonder if I can order some for the Viggen…….

one of the “exhaust” pics shows a kind of brushed aluminum “housing” (or “difuser” area), whilst other pics show the “difuser” area in all black. maybe the “brushed aluminum” is for the combi? hmm…

i like ‘em both. the “brushed aluminum” stands out more, though.

re the wheels, the best part is that the lugs are not exposed. i wish the same could be said about the 3-spoke double blade wheels, which, otherwise, would be my preference.

I believe that it´ll look terrific in flesh. Front spoiler lip is quite modest IMO. Could´ve been more aggressive. Those wheels are brilliant. They surely must look good when turning slowly.
      Impressive!

What if they used the capacity in Trollhättan to build this one with a profit instead of the BLS with a loss…

    • Saaboy said:

this wont be built in trollhattan?

Loving the look of this car, would be very happy to see one outside my house. I bet Rayman is already at the front door waiting to be let in. :-)

    • riku1100s said:

I don’t think BLS uses much of Trollhättans production capacity, actually…

The wheels definitely look better at close distance. I’m also glad they haven’t gone overboard with the front end design.

      Good luck in Frankfurt !

GM Europe web TV showed 9-3 Turbo X just few moments ago. There was just very short presentation of the model, but it looked very cool driving slowly to the showstand and turned there on a rotating table. New wheels really look good and the rear is mean and aggressive.

    • robin m said:

riku1100s, do you have a link please,

    • robin m said:

      sorry, markoa…..

AMS says the e-LSD is an option! so its basicly a Aero in black. i hope thats not true.

Naphalm, the press release, as published here a few days ago, lists it as being part of the transmissions setup for the Turbo X.

      Transmission:

Saab XWD, all-wheel-drive. Electronic rear limited-slip differential (eLSD)
      6-speed manual or automatic gearbox”

Down there you´ll find webcast. I don´t know if there´s anything more to come, but at least the press event was there, live.

Saab and wheel-design a matchmake in heaven. How come Saab always have the coolest and best goodlooking rims (orginal). No other marque is even close. One of the things I lke about Saab.

First I wanted some more that looked like the old one. But this is much better, this can be something to remember and wanted as retro in a couple of years. Instead of being a retro today!

Nice work o why can´t I have a bigger moneybag for my next corporate car.

    • Mr. Aero said:

Wow , i am getting crazy for this car. I WANT ONE! NOW! :)

The back looks soooooo good. I love it…. :)

those rims are the 19″. Lets see how are the standard 18″.

      greetings

    • jc_atl said:

Why didn’t they use the classic lowercase “turbo” in the correct font on the rear of the car? I don’t understand when you are comparing it to a classic 900 of yore why you wouldn’t use the retro look of the “turbo” badge that adorned those cars? The boost gauge is a good idea but the needles should match throughout the dash, not be different colors.

This is an amazing and gorgeous vehicle! Thanks for all the additional pics!

I like the rear straight on shot of the saloon (now) - that would look one mean mutha tearing off in front of you. An im really liking the combi :)

What the UK price anyone know??

I’m generally impressed, but got downhearted reading the negative comments on Autoblog. But then I read the comments on the Audi S4 and I feel good again. I think Audi is about to make a big fall, followed by BMW. :-)

    • Ted Y said:

      D***it, I meant A4.

So what I want to know is wht is the difference between the turbo-X and a tarted up Aero. I really think they should have pushed the power to just over 300bhp. Why? Well its really just psychological really but it would help differentiate it from an already lovely car. Having said that, they are probably all sold anyway so thats irrelevant - right? :)

Congratulations to Saab and everyone at Saab who has worked so hard this year to give us the new 9-3. HOWEVER, a MASSIVE thanks needs to go out to Swade for keeping us entertained for all these years! :) SWADE - you rule! :)

    • 1985 Gripen said:

Isn’t it funny that SAAB finally comes out with a vehicle that EVERYONE loves and wants to run down and buy only to find out that they probably can’t buy one as only 2,000 will be made?

Why don’t they make a model like this with an unlimited run? I’m sure they won’t even have to sell these at the deep discounts they have to sell all their other models at. Seems silly to me.

And BTW, I really like those wheels. I think that gunmetal trim should be an option on more models (have a choice between matte chrome or gunmetal).
