2008 Saabs are fitted with a tyre pressure monitoring system.

I hope that it works better than the tire pressure system on my company-owned 2006 Impala. It’s broken again after being serviced once already. I think that it’s simply a leak, but still.

This isn’t a standard feature in the UK. It comes with the 18″ ALU73 wheel option (the five spoke one) or can be specified seperately as a cost option.
Is this a standard feature in the States?

Kaz, yes, it’s a standard option in the U.S. and Canada starting with MY08, even on the standard 16″ rims.

I’m wondering if it will be possible to retrofit a MY2003 with this system? Would be nice, so that I can use run-on-flat tires.
Anyone with infos about it?

The problem here in Sweden and I would expect in the northern states of the US and Canada is the off market rims and tires… In the southern hemisphere summertires are used all year round and therefore causes no problem with sensors.. When I sold Peugeots (the 407) in Sweden, Peugeout Sweden unistalled the function on the cars that were suppied with off market rims/wintertires. Otherwise the system would go crazy when using original rims.. So how does the system function here.. in Sweden or in the N Us or Canada? A huge market for Saab i ofcoarse Sweden and the US. Will it adapt to the aftermarket rims? Easy to solve?

Another issue will be changing tyres in the event of a irrepairable puncture.
One must remember to let the tyre fitters know that there is a tyre pressure monitoring system on board and hand them the manual for it.
I can see that going down well in a garage

The Tech II configuration is lame just to set up a newly mounted rim. With our Honda Ody there is no technician intervention when mounting a new wheel/tire.
I also wonder if the tpm units are dealer only items or among those available from Tire Rack.
