I reckon the windscreen fitter lost his beer money the day he built that car! I also recall finding an 8" shifter stuck in spray undersealant in the boot of a new Ford Falcon. Worse, it was stuck across a sealing hole in the boot floor, and they left the bung out because it wouldn't fit in! Ah, what quality.
