I found this little jewel on eBay. It seems that a fellow in St. Paul, Minnesota bought a new 1972 Saab 99 and found a Swedish beer can in the map pocket on the door. He kept the Sandwalls Bayerskt Fatöl can as a good luck talisman all these years (35 to be exact). To me, it’s a sign that your car may have been built on a Friday afternoon, when everyone’s thoughts are drifting toward the weekend.
The full story is here.

Skol!
And to think, all I ever found in ANY car, let alone a new one, was a pair of tighty-whities complete with skidmark.

I remember when i was working for a rental company in Ibiza for the Summer of 1999.
I found lots of stuff in the cars then. Those were the days, off your head in a purple haze.
That beer can is worth some money. But I think he should keep it as a memory.
Matt: Ewww.
I can recall finding a heap of German coins underneath the parcel shelf of an Australian-delivered 190E Mercedes. I reckon the windscreen fitter lost his beer money the day he built that car!
I also recall finding an 8″ shifter stuck in spray undersealant in the boot of a new Ford Falcon. Worse, it was stuck across a sealing hole in the boot floor, and they left the bung out because it wouldn’t fit in! Ah, what quality.

This is such a great story! Not exactly the stuff of Hollywood movies but to make sure it’s preserved, I’ve captured the Ebay listing and created a page for it (making reference to this site – thanks for posting it Steve!) at http://lios.apana.org.au/~9t9/swedish_beer.html for people who’d like to have a look. Thanks, Craig.
