Saab 9000 acceleration video

Just toolin around on YouTube and found this.

Amazing acceleration video in a Saab 9000 that’s apparently owned by one of the guys at Maptun. The title says it’s rated up to 700hp and checking the acceleration on tap here I’m not inclined to disagree.

I’m off to bed.

I’ll still be around over the Easter break, but in case you’re not, then have a happy and safe Easter period. I hope the big rabbit’s feeling generous.

Nice video, but that steering wheel sure is moving around a lot.

Rofl, I wanna see a car journo drive that car, I wonder what they’ll say about torque steer in a standard car after that….

Madness! The torque steer does look quite scary considering the speed. Still, the acceleration is impressive.

Speaking of madness it reminded me of the old film C’était un Rendezvous. If you have not seen it, it is not SAAB related but is a great piece of driving film. It was shot in Paris in 1976 and the roads were not closed. They guy who made the film was arrested and there is still controversy over who was driving and what the car was. Snow Patrol used it in their last video.

If it is your first viewing, enjoy, if not it’s still a great watch. Towards the end look out for the car flashing its lights – the camera car is actually going the wrong way down a 1 way street at about 80mph.

Jon, that video is somewhat suspect. The engine revs like crazy, but the speed is not that great. It’s very easy to see exactly the streets the car is travelling and how long it takes, and from a map figure out the actual speed. Still, the idea and idea behind the film makes it worth to watch.

Again, Swade is hacking into my computer. I was looking at this the day before yesterday… That first pull is very impressing, to me…
