Trollhattan Saab has changed!
The site you're viewing now is the original Trollhattan Saab weblog, though it's now an archive only and no new material is posted here. As of February 2009, all new material is posted at our new site - Saabs United.
Please join us at Saabs United and get your daily Saab fix from Saab sources all around the world.
The big event over Easter in Sweden was the Elmia Custom Car Show and one of Mats’ mates was there with a camera.
The full gallery is available here and is well worth a look. These Swedes enjoy their engineering. Look out for the “Blue Griffen” (not a Saab).
I’ve reproduced some of the Saabs and one freaky big….thing, below.

Must call in the Saab SWAT team to save those Saabs from a life of ricey enslavement!
Seriously, you Euros have NO room to crack on American car extremes after this little display.

I guess I have to confess that I’ve been to that show a couple of years ago but it wasn’t for me. To many Pokémon racer wannabeas and scantily clad young girls crawling all over the cars. Sadly it’s what the 18-15 yearolds want to see, there are examples of much better cars being build here with less plastic and more purpose but they seldom get this kind of attention.

I think the spaceship looking thing at the bottom started life as a 1951 Mercury. But I wouldn’t bet the house on that.

I’ve been to one show like this in FL ……. Out of something like 3,000 cars, there was maybe 5 decently done cars.
Since I’m more of a muscle car, functional car, sporty car and understated car fan… this show was not for me. What’s the purpose of all that “look” without any go behind it? And none of that bottled “go” that destroys engines.
I will morn those Saabs tonight

Im not gonna lie, I like the top one, kinda. It’s more reserved than the rest, but still looks good IMO.

The top one is my favorite too. It’s PA Johanssons car, 2.0 liter block, braked to 802hp with 4wd (same as in Per Eklunds Rallycross car) The photographer has been very much involved in the build of that car.
