This isn’t the first time I’ve shown a Saab from Africa. Danni in Namibia has had a couple of posts focus on his 9-5 Aero, and there’s more to come from him shortly, but….

Team Sanddodgers are progressing well in their charity run from the UK to Banjul (The Gambia). As a reminder, here’s what they have to do:

The Challenge is to simply drive the route from Plymouth to Banjul (on a limited budget) with the principle aim of helping some Charitable causes in Senegal and The Gambia. The car must be Left Hand Drive, cost less than £100 and you may only spend £15 preparing it for the journey.

The Saab connection is that they’re doing this in a 1978 Saab 99 Turbo (arctic white with a green interior – just like my old one, sniff sniff)

If I’m reading the website correctly, they’ve covered around 2,500 miles so far and in the video, at least, the car seems to be running reasonably well, although they do mention on their blog that the heater is currently stuck “on”. Not the best thing when you’re heading in the African desert.
