Fraud. An auction is a legally binding purchase agreement. It doesn’t carry much weight when dealing with used Xbox games but when selling cars you can get yourself a some hot water. Once the auction ended I was legelly required to pay him the agreed amount and he was legally required to sign over the title to a 1986 Saab 900 convertible.

Having sold the car the day after the auction it would be a quick court case. I would provide the date the auction ended and the sales documents show when he sold it and that would be it. Thus he offered something to buy me off, and since Boston is 775 miles away and I’d have had to get a lawyer, I took the money.

What a shame you missed on that one! Just out of interest though, what charges would he have been subject to?

A) There is an 86' convertible that lives here in my town. It's in mint shape.

B) I won an auction on Ebay for an 86' w/manual back in 2003. Saddly the dealer, located in Boston turned out to be underhanded and sold the car locally AFTER the auction had ended. I ended up getting $300 from him to keep me from filing charges.
