About
Welcome to Trollhattan Saab.
Trollhattan Saab is a Saab enthusiast’s playground. It covers any news to do with Saab Automobile - anywhere in the world. Spotted a customised Saab 9000 limousine in Poland? Tell me about it! Spotted a Saab 600 down at the shops in Uddevalla?? Definitely let me know about it!!! This is a site for Saab enthusiasts and there’s barely a Saab story that isn’t worth telling.
Of course, most of the stories here are concerned with the growth and development of the brand and the joy of driving the brilliant cars that wear the badge. Saab have historically had a philosophy on automobiles that’s been different to many manufacturers and it’s this uniqueness that sets them apart.
Responsible performance. Safety. Utility. Design. These have always been Saab hallmarks and this site, along with many others on the web, exists to preserve and promote those values.
Thanks for visiting and please bookmark the site and come again…..but don’t go just yet - there’s more>>>>

The site was started back in February 2005 on a Blogger hosted service and moved to its own domain in June 2005, where it’s resided ever since.
It’s now July 2007 as I write this and in the last 2+ years I’ve written over 2,500 articles on this site. Visitors to this site have left almost 15,000 comments and the vast majority of them are very insightful
Trollhattan Saab is not produced by or affiliated with General Motors in any way. I’ve asked several times if they want to pay me to do this, but they continue to knock me back. So it’s a completely independant gig and the opinions expressed here are my own.
The site is produced by me, Swade, and if you’ve got anything you need to chat about then shoot me an email (see the contact page for that). I always try to link to a source so if I’ve used any material or imagery that you consider to be yours, without having linked to it properly, or if you just want it taken down, please let me know.
In the same spirit, all original material on this site is copyright owned 2005-present by me. If you’re going to use it then please ensure that you observe correct netiquette and hook me up with an appropriate link.
There’s still more…..

As mentioned, my name is Swade. I live in Tasmania, that triangular shaped island state to the south of the Australian mainland, which is about as far away from Sweden as you can get, incidentally.
I’ve been a Saab nut since the early 1990s, though I only got my first Saab in the late 90s. Since then I’ve owned the following:
1972 Saab 99E
1979 Saab 99 Turbo x 2
1986 Saab 900 Turbo
1994 Saab 9000 CS
1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen
That’s six cars, though it’s actually seven purchases. I liked one of the 99 Turbos so much that I bought it twice. I’ve sold it again now and I still miss that car so a third purchase might be a possibility!!
Publishing this website has given me an even bigger appreciation for the brand and I hope some of that can rub off on you as you visit here. In June 2007 I was fortunate enough to go to Trollhattan for the 2007 Saab Festival, which celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the company. It was a briliant trip and I can highly recommend that anyone else do the same. Your knowledge of and love for the cars will be deepened, and aside from that it’s a beautiful city.
Enjoy your visit here and please do drop me a line if there’s anything you want to chat about.
